Only 65 degrees, but that 95 percent humidity got the best of me. How will I make it through the summer months?!?!
Today's run slapped me back to reality, reminding me of how much I still have to learn about the sport of running. I was getting away with ill preparation for my long runs. The cool weather made me ignore the need to stay hydrated.
I learned a very hard lesson today and can't leave it up to chance that race day will be cool. Got back to my research and ready to take on my last long run before race day... (I think)
Trials and tribulations of a newbie :)
Training for a long distance during the summer sucks. There is no good time to run. However, there is an upside. Once you figure out the hydration/fuel balance, running in the heat and humidity will increase your endurance 'That which doesn't kill us, makes us stronger' or so they say ... Then again, I promised to never again register for a fall half-marathon. The heat, humidity, rained out runs ... You can have it. Run one for me SuperSam!
ReplyDeleteI know I am getting ahead of myself, but thought I would post upcoming races in the fall that I have my eyes on. Mark your calendar!

Oh Sam, I am thinking that the Twilight Zone race sounds amazing! I think that will be a good time of year too. The Wine and Dine is during my birthday so I don't think that will be as realistic for me but I am almost 100% committed to doing the Twilight Zone...
